Prevent tree roots causing blocked pipes

Prevention: Home owners should be aware of their laterals and sewer cleanout pipe, and refrain from planting certain types of trees and hedges near this area. Trees should be located more than 3.5 metres from sewer lines to minimize root intrusion. Choose small slow growing species with less aggressive root systems – and replace them before they get too large for their planting area.

Once roots are in your lateral they will likely cause an eventual blockage. The best way to prevent this is to schedule regular cleaning of your pipes. The common method of removing roots from sewer service pipes is by using our professional high pressure flushing machine with jett rod cutting nozzle to clear any problems before they get out of hand.

We are available to use our CCTV footage to determine the condition of your pipes and with regular flushing (especially after heavy rainfall or seasonal storms) we can prevent costly repairs in advance. Please talk to our technician and if you are interested we can work out a service plan that is affordable and will give you peace of mind for unforseen expenses. Just let us know if you are interested in preventative help. As a duty of care it is our job to inform you of why this happens, minimise damage to your pipes, and take care of our customers and save you costly repairs in the future.
